How to Evaluate Conveyor Software: from Conveyor System Designs to Easy-To-Use Technology

As you’re building an automation system for your client, spending time to choose a conveyor configurator may be the farthest thing from your mind. But which conveyor software you choose could have lasting effects on your entire conveyor-based assembly automation system, including how much it costs, how long it takes to design and deliver, and even how creative you can be in your solution.

 

Consider these questions when evaluating conveyor design software to ensure you select the best fit for you and for your customers’ needs.

  1. Does the conveyor manufacturer have configuration tools?
  2. Are the  configuration tools easy to understand and use with your current software?
  3. Can you easily make changes within your assembly design? How much time does it take to make a simple change?
  4. Can you be innovative and creative with the technology and the conveyors offered?
  5. Is pricing available through that tool?
  6. Are the tool’s capabilities comprehensive, offering pricing, model numbers, and more – or just one or two pieces of the overall puzzle?
  7. Does the configurator allow me to create 3D solid models for my clients?
  8. Are the models accurate enough to design my equipment around?
  9. Do they have technical support or a conveyor design guide if needed? What is the average response time?
