Why the Zero Pressure Conveyor is Now the Zero Contact Zoned Conveyor

Written by Kevin Mauger | Monday, January 27, 2020

We’ve recently changed the name of our Glide-Line Zero Pressure Conveyor to a name that better reflects how we help your clients. It’s now called the Zero Contact Zoned Conveyor

So, why the change?

We wanted people to more quickly understand what the Zero Contact Zoned Conveyor could accomplish.

Zero pressure is the term used in very specific industries such as warehousing and packaging. It refers to the backpressure caused by accumulation, which can be potentially damaging to cases, cartons, and products on a conveyor line. However, people are often using our conveyors on shorter, more specific direct product or pallet handling systems - so “pressure” is not always the culprit of damage as much as “product contact.” We wanted to make sure the name of this conveyor actually reflected the challenge people use it to solve - so we updated it.

The Zero Contact Zoned Conveyor has three main benefits:

Zero contact accumulation: By controlling the individual product zones on a conveyor line using one-to-one driver-zone controls, we’re able to accomplish zero product contact during accumulation on a conveyor line. This significantly reduces the chance of product damage.

Energy savings: Since zones are individually controlled and the conveyors only run when the pallets need to be in motion, we’re able to save energy and run the conveyor more efficiently.

Limited wear and tear: When a belt or chain is running underneath a static pallet or product, there is inherent wear and tear. Since this conveyor doesn’t run when the pallets don’t need to be moving, we’re able to reduce that wear and tear on the line.

This conveyor features 24VDC brushless motors, which are maintenance-free and virtually noise free. The 24VDC version even comes with its own driver cards that includes embedded zero contact logic.  Additionally, we now offer an AC version as well, with more torque; this leads to increased capacity.

The Zero Contact Zoned Conveyor still solves the issue of backpressure, as well, as we mentioned above; we haven’t neglected the very issue that originally gave us its name. But most importantly, there have been no changes in the other important aspects of the Zero Contact Zoned Conveyor: quality, flexibility, and lead time.

Quality is an important core of our business; we choose the best materials that will meet your clients’ needs when it comes to supporting their products and matching the speed and strength they need. Additionally, Glide-Line has lead times ½ of our competitors. Our conveyor is highly modular and designed extremely intelligently, allowing us to quickly deliver conveyors and devices customized to your clients’ needs. Yes, you read that right: customized configurations at half the lead time. None of this has been compromised with the change in name to the Zero Contact Zoned Conveyor.
